Basketball & Ballet is book two of The California Love series. While this is part of a series, it can standalone. This couple had a lot in common; single parents, learning to forgive, born again Christians, and whew, enough baby momma-daddy drama to write another book.
Suzette Harrison created a beautiful Christian-filled romance highlighting real issues and relatable characters. Being single parents, Tavares and Yazmeen have enough to deal with and love just not on the to-do list. Having had their fair share of recklessness, mistakes, and life disappointments, they realized it is time to make a change. Choosing the path of faith and celibacy, they find themselves in an undeniable attraction and a wrestle with temptation.
What I loved most about this book; all the funny banter, testimonial nuggets, and host of secondary characters making this a page-turner that is shelf worthy. It took longer to finish this because of all the rereading of scenes.

ABOUT SUZETTE D. HARRISON
Suzette D. Harrison, a native Californian and the middle of three daughters, grew up in a home where reading was required, not requested. Her literary “career” began in junior high school with the publishing of her poetry. While Mrs. Harrison pays homage to Alex Haley, Gloria Naylor, Alice Walker, Langston Hughes, and Toni Morrison as literary legends who inspired her creativity, it was Dr. Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings that unleashed her writing. Literally. Not only is Harrison a multi-award-winning author, but she is an avid reader as well. “I’ve strayed away from the practice, but years ago I made a concerted effort to always read a book from the Harlem Renaissance writers every time I read a contemporary piece of fiction.
