Today, we hear from Porter Crowne, he is representing Chicago and it is not a surprise of his nomination. He comes from good stock and a legacy of leaders that have had a watchful eye on the community dating back to his great-grandfather.
Being the first-born son of Pharoah "Patron" Crowne, it is no surprise the title comes with big expectations. His father is the king of the streets and nothing happens without it has his approval. It is his father's legacy that he has embraced until his conscience and heart start a war, and he begins to make different moves.
During his time of living in the shadows of his father, Porter has had to make many sacrifices; one that has never really set well with him. Since becoming the Mr. Black of the Chicago Chapter, he has begun to step out of the shadow of Pharoah Crowne and reclaim the destiny that only he can fulfill.
Alanna Raven has lived under the protection of her father's rules & restrictions, which has been stifling at times. She is a popular influencer that helps people realize the power within themselves, just being who they are. Her followers love her energy and when she actually wants to practice what she teaches, she seeks out the one person that can help liberate her. Now is the time to claim what has been rightfully hers. Of course, this may be going against one of her father's forbidden rules.
What I love about this story is this couple, and how they navigate the complexities of their families and become leaders in the community, combining the old and new legacies and making a platform for the next generation to follow. I can't forget the family aspect of this, the author gave us a glimpse of Pharoah as powerful a man he is, there is no shame in being venerable and showing love to his son. The show of love and acceptance with Pharoah and Porter is heartwarming. These scenes with Pharoah and his kids remain a favorite of mine.
